Re-imagining of the "Lord of the Flies"

Several sketches and ideas throughout my project of the Children
and the Pig's head from Lord of the Flies. I wanted to capture the savagery on the children faces by giving them a more sinister appearance than you are used to seeing from existing illustrations and other media. These images enforce the notion of a loss of innocence and can be seen as disturbing as a child is a representation of innocence in which my illustrations heavily disregard that.

Swine Slaughter

This is an acrylic painting I did for one of my projects last year in which I had to make a book cover for a classic novel. I chose to create a book cover for the very popular book named "Lord of the Flies". I created several different experimental pieces in response to reading the book and this is one of them. It is a representation of what the children see as the "Lord of the Flies" the pigs head that they severed and impaled. It also displays the gradual descent into savagery, half of the head being clean and visible (innocence) whereas the other half being covered in blood and very hard to distinguish (savagery).
